Afghanistan's president ready to hold talks with the Taliban

Afghanistan's president Hamid Karzai has renewed his call for talks with the Taliban, one day after international donors pledged $16 billion in aid for the reconstruction of his country, the Voice of America reports.

Karzai says his administration will give top priority to establishing a peace process with the Taliban to stabilize the country and consolidate the gains made in the past 10 years.
