20 clergymen awarded medals by order of Seyran Ohanian
On the occasion of Army day, a Holy Liturgy was celebrated in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on January 27. The service was conducted by the the Primate of Chaplains of Armenia’s Armed Forces Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamian and presided over by His Holiness, Patriarch of All Armenians Garegin II.
Diocesan heads of the Armenian Apostolic Church, priests of the Mother See, Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanian, and high-ranking military officials were present.
An official reception was then held at the Hall of the Gevorgian Theological Seminary, during which Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II congratulated those present on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Armenian army and gave his blessing to them.
Then, in recognition of their services to Homeland and the faithful, His Holiness handed “Surb Nerses Shorhali” Orders of the Armenian Apostolic Church to Major General Vardan Avetisian, Lieutenant General Martin Karapetian, Lieutenant General Stepan Galstian, Major General Aleksan Aleksanian, and Lieutenant General Muraz Sargsyan.
By order of Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian, about 20 clergymen, who participated in the Artsakh war and made their contribution to spiritual care of the army, were awarded medals such as Marshal Baghramian Medal, Andranik Ozanian Medal, etc, on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Armenian army, the information system of the Mother See reported.
