English-language film about Khojalu events already has 210,000 views

The English-language version of the two-part documentary “Between Hunger and Fire: Power at the Expense of Lives” – a film about the blockade and bombings of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic’s capital city of Stepanakert and ruined human lives – was presented to the international community last week.

The 90-minute film already has some 210,000 views on Youtube, with this number continuing to grow rapidly.

The Russian version of the documentary premiered in February 2102, arousing keen interest both in Armenia and abroad. The film’s screening, and a number of workshops and lectures on it have been held in Moscow Cinema and various universities of Yerevan.

Released on the anniversary of the Khojalu events used by Azerbaijan to spread state-financed anti-Armenian racist propaganda, the film has already become available to the international community in English as well.

It should be mentioned that the European Court of Human Rights ruled on “Fatullayev versus Azerbaijan” case (2010) that such important preconditions as speech freedom, plurality and tolerance regarding new facts, approaches, and comments on historical events are necessary for the establishment of a democratic state in Azerbaijan.

The film contains archive documents, photos, interviews, and maps published for the first time, thanks to which it presents new factual circumstances of historical events – as opposed to Azerbaijan’s version of the “Khojalu events” spread for years on end in Azerbaijani society and the international community.

The film was made on the initiative of the Armenian Presidential Staff’s Center for Public Relations and Information.
