Prospects of Armenia-U.S. military cooperation discussed

Yerevan hosted today an annual conference on Armenian-American military cooperation planning. The press service of Armenian Defense Ministry reported that among the U.S. participants were representatives of the United States European Command, the U.S. Naval Forces Europe, and the Kansas National Guard.

The purpose of the event was to discuss the measures of the 2013-2014 Armenian-U.S. military cooperation program and to prepare the plan of cooperation between Armenia’s Defense Ministry and the U.S. European Command to be signed next week.

According to the source, Deputy Defense Minister of Armenia David Tonoyan received the U.S. delegation today. The sides appreciated the current level of cooperation and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation on military reforms.

The members of the U.S. delegation welcomed Armenia’s readiness to develop defense cooperation with the United States, noting that cooperation is aimed at strengthening international stability and security.
