Tigran Sargsyan nominated for post of prime minister
A sitting of the Executive Body of Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) was held this evening. The sitting was chaired by HHK leader, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
HHK spokesman Edward Sharmazanov told reporters following the sitting that two issues were discussed: the formation of a new government and the upcoming elections to Yerevan Council of Elders.
He said that the Executive Body took a unanimous decision to nominate Tigran Sargsyan for the post of Prime Minister. “Seyran Ohanian was proposed as the candidate for the post of Defense Minister, Edward Nalbandian – for the post of Foreign Minister”.
According to Sharamazanov, candidacies of other government members were not discussed at the sitting.
Sharmazanov noted that like any other government, the Armenian government is not infallible, but Tigran Sargsyan managed to perform the Armenian president’s task – to ensure 7% economic growth.
“We share the opinion that the government headed by Tigran Sargsyan has fulfilled its tasks,” Sharmazanov said.
“We also discussed the election campaign of our candidate running in the Yerevan municipal elections and we assess Taron Margarian’s meetings as satisfactory,” Sharmazanov said.
According to him, Taron Margarian has a good chance of being re-elected Yerevan Mayor.
