K. Manoyan: Armenia should raise issue of compensation at three levels

There is a strong probability that Israel’s Knesset will discuss the recognition of the Armenian Genocide again, taking into account the fact that negotiations on a rapprochement between Turkey and Israel are simultaneously being conducted. It seems that this time Israel will file the issue to a committee that does not hold public discussions, namely, to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee”, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Party member, Director of Armenian Cause Office Kiro Manoyan said at a meeting with reporters.

“The approach of ARFD is that we should raise the issue of claiming compensation for losses suffered during the Armenian Genocide,” he noted.

According to him, a study, whose draft was published in 2010 in Los Angeles and Yerevan, will be released soon.
“The study discusses the problem of claiming compensation at three levels and the problem related to rights. The first level is the territorial right. We do not consider the current border between Armenia and Turkey as legal. The legal border is one in U.S. President Woodrow Wilson’s Arbitral Award of 1920,” Kiro Manoyan stressed.

“The second level is the problem of our collective or national property. It is mostly reflected in the right to our churches. And the third level is personal compensation. Some persons have already taken steps in this connection,” Manoyan said.
