Sergei Minasian: Russia maintains balance

“By selling its arms to Azerbaijan, Russia maintains the balance, but our aim is to prevent the Azerbaijani side from establishing decisive superiority,” Deputy Director of the Caucasus Institute, political scientist Sergei Minasian told reporters today.

In his words, Russia is in no haste to transfer the sold arms to Azerbaijan, the process will take 1-2 years, which is also done for maintaining the balance.

Minasian said undesirable events may happen if the balance is upset in the region. According to him, every decision has its political price.

He expressed an opinion that the public approach to the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan is a bit exaggerated.
