Serzh Sargsyan visits U.S. embassy on occasion of Independence Day

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited the American embassy in Yerevan on the occasion of the Independence Day of the United States.

The president congratulated U.S. Ambassador John A. Heffern and the embassy staff on Independence Day, the presidential press service said.

The Armenian president also sent a congratulatory message to President Barack Obama.

“There has been a growth in the close partnership between our countries in recent years and today we are at the height of interstate relations. We have reached an unprecedentedly large volume of cooperation in various spheres. We highly appreciate the practical assistance that the United States gives Armenia with economic development and strengthening of its democratic institutions and civil society. We are interested in the full use of the considerable potential existing in bilateral relations and raising our relations to a new level,” the message reads.

The Armenian president also expressed confidence that the U.S. authorities will continue their active mediatory mission in the Karabakh conflict settlement and contribute to the establishment of stable and lasting peace in the region.
