Presidents of Armenia and Moldova discuss cooperation promotion

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan went on a working visit to Moldova today. Prior to the start of the European People’s Party (EPP) summit in Kishinev with the participation of leaders of Eastern Partnership program’s countries, Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, the presidential press service reports.

The heads of the two states discussed a wide range of issues related to promotion of the Armenian-Moldovan political dialog and development of cooperation in trade and the economic sphere. Serzh Sargsyan said that after the establishment of diplomatic relations, the potential for the strengthening and development of bilateral ties was not fully used and now it is necessary to fill the gap with active work, frequent mutual visits and meetings at various levels, which is in the interests of the two friendly nations.

Following the bilateral talks and the talks in an enlarged format, the ceremony of signing documents was held. In particular, the sides signed an agreement on cooperation between the Culture Ministries of Armenia and Moldova and an agreement on economic and scientific-technical cooperation between the Agriculture Ministry of Armenia and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova.

President Sargsyan also met with Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and discussed with him the opportunities of developing mutually beneficial economic cooperation in various spheres.
