Prime minister meets with Karabakh war veterans

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met today with Karabakh war veterans who are staging a protest in Liberty Square of Yerevan, the press service of the government reported.

At the prime minister’s suggestion, proposals for solution of the problems of Karabakh war veterans were presented by the Chief of the Government Staff Vatche Gabrielian, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artyom Asatrian, Minister of Culture Ms. Hasmik Poghosian, Deputy Defense Minister Ara Nazarian, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ms. Narine Harutyunian, and Deputy Chief of the Police Hovhannes Hunanian.

In particular, the meeting participants discussed the issue of specifying status of veterans and their lists, the implementation of programs in accordance with their status (provision of apartments, medical aid, education, utility payments, pensions, and benefits), patriotic upbringing, work of the museum of the Karabakh liberation struggle, etc.

As a result of discussions, an agreement was reached that within the framework of joint working commissions, veterans of the Karabakh war will cooperate with responsible state bodies for the discussion of problems and the development of their solutions. The prime minister said the proposed solutions will be discussed during the next meeting at the government.
