'We Pay 100 Drams’ civil initiative condemns any violence

We Pay 100 Drams civil initiative issued a statement in connection with the incident that occurred today between a passenger and the driver of minibus # 67. The statement particularly says:

“Participants of We Pay 100 Drams movement condemn any violence, insults, and other illegal actions aimed against other citizens and policemen. We demand that the police promptly find and call to account those guilty. At the same time we believe it is unacceptable that police use that incident in order to restrict activities of citizens exercising their right to peaceful protest at bus stops”.

The statement stresses that the protest actions against the increase in public transport fares are peaceful and have been staged in accordance with the law. The initiative members call upon citizens to act within the law and respect and observe the rights and freedoms of others.
