Bike parking lots to open in Yerevan

Construction work of bike parking lots in Yerevan will be done on the Yerevan Municipality’s initiative, the press service of the municipality reported. A joint working group of representatives of various NGOs and private persons has been set up with this aim.

Proposals concerning areas for bike parking stands' construction were presented at the discussion organized by Yerevan Municipality. It is planned to build such parking lots in areas adjacent to recreation zones and universities.

As part of Yerevan Summer program, opening ceremonies of some parking lots will be held. The municipality is ready to discuss any constructive proposal related to that initiative.

The working group also discussed issues relating to safety of parking places and the formation of a network of bike lanes. The consultation participants expressed hope that the opening of bike parking lots will promote the development of bicycle traffic in Yerevan.
