J. Warlick: All parties need to compromise to settle Karabakh conflict

The new U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick told a press conference in Yerevan today that he came to hear the positions of the parties and familiarize himself with the situation.

Speaking about the Karabakh conflict settlement, Ambassador Warlick said it would be difficult and impossible to find a resolution in case of the absence of political will of the conflicting parties’ leaders, compromises, and people’s comprehension of the fact that the conflict settlement stems from the interests of future generations.

“The people of this region have already suffered very much, and we need to find a solution that will ensure lasting peace, security, and prosperity,” Warlick stated.

In his words, the United States is prepared to continue joint efforts with Russia, France and the international community to find a lasting solution to the problem.

“All parties will need to compromise if we are going to be successful and find a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, James Warlick said.

The new U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick has been on a visit to Armenia on September 10-12. He discussed the Karabakh conflict settlement process with Armenian President Serzh Sarsgyan, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, and Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian. J. Warlick will pay today a visit to Nagorno Karabakh as part of his regional trip.
