Armenian delegation takes part in CSTO sittings

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian, and Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasarian participated in the joint sitting of the Committee of Foreign Ministers’ Council, Defense Ministers’ Council, and Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states, according to the press service of Armenian Foreign ministry. The sitting was held in Sochi.

The implementation of the decisions adopted during the CSTO Collective Security Council’s session in December 2012 was discussed at the join sitting today.

The participants approved the draft documents included in the agenda of the Council’s session to be held later today. In particular, among the draft documents were the communique of the Collective Security Councils’ session, the action program on the main directions of military cooperation development until 2020, and the draft statement of the Council regarding the Syria crisis.
At the sitting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov presented the priorities of Russia’s presidency of the CSTO.

Secretary General of the CSTO Nikolai Bordyuzha gave a report on the current activities of the organization and the results achieved as part of cooperation.

The sitting participants made a decision on the venues and dates of next sittings of statutory bodies of the CSTO.
