Tamamian’s lawyer to file petition for early release

The lawyer of Hovhannes Tamamian, former chief of the Main Criminal Investigation Department, is going to file a petition for Tamamian’s early release.

The lawyer A. Parsadanian told Aysor.am that as a result of the recent amnesty, H. Tamamian has had his prison term reduced by 4 months.

Tamamian was sentenced to 4 years in prison on March 24, 2011.

During the probe into Tamamian’s case, investigators discovered facts of deliberate distortion of the factual circumstances of a murder committed on 12 May 2010, due to which the person who had committed the murder was summoned as a witness and managed to escape criminal responsibility. The prosecutor generals’ petition also presented facts of omissions and falsifications in work of the Main Criminal Investigation Department.
