New patient with cutaneous anthrax in Armenia
A patient with a sign of anthrax – ulcers on the hand – was admitted to the Nork infectious diseases hospital on October 26. Laboratory tests confirmed the preliminary diagnosis. The patient has anthrax of moderate severity and is already improving.
Armenian Health Ministry along with specialists of Agriculture Ministry and the State Food Safety Service took the necessary actions. It was found that infected meat was the possible source of infection. Preventive and epidemiological measures were organized for early detection of possible patients.
Cutaneous anthrax cases were recorded in Lori province earlier this month.
