Levon Zurabian: HAK never tried to profit by occasion
It is obvious that the regime has brought the country to such a hopeless situation that many see no option but to try to rid the country of the regime by most radical methods, including illegal ones. The head of Armenian National Congress (HAK) parliamentary faction Levon Zurabian made that statement at a meeting with reporters today, when commenting on the events which took place on Mashtots Avenue of Yerevan yesterday.
“Yesterday’s events are the best description of this regime’s actions,” Zurabian noted. According to him, it is first of all the authorities that are to blame for the incident on November 5. He said there are also three HAK supporters among the detained protesters.
Asked if HAK wants to profit by the occasion to become active again and hold rallies, Levon Zurabian replied that HAK has never tried to profit by the occasion and it always staged rallies for some reason or other.
“Our rallies were related, for example, to elections, a dialog, release of political prisoners, or the conduct of snap elections. We have never tried to profit by the occasion. When we saw at some moment that we could initiate a process that might be successful, we initiated it,” Zurabian said.
