Latvia’s new ambassador presents credentials to Armenian president
Latvia’s newly-appointed Ambassador to Armenia Elita Gavele (residence in Tbilisi) today presented her credentials to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the presidential press service reported.
The president congratulated the Latvian ambassador on her appointment, wished her success, expressing hope that during her diplomatic mission Ms. Gavele will do her best to strengthen the ties between Armenia and Latvia.
The sides underlined the importance of Armenian-Latvian cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
On behalf of her country, Ambassador Gavele expressed a willingness to closely cooperate with Armenia during Latvia’s presidency of the EU in the first half of 2015 and to provide assistance if necessary, noting that the Eastern Partnership will be one of Latvia’s priorities in that period.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to promotion of the political dialog between Armenia and Latvia and development of their cooperation in a number of spheres of mutual interest.
