Roadmap for Armenia’s entry into Customs Union approved in Moscow

The roadmap for Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space was approved today at the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) in Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this when speaking to reporters following the session in the Kremlin, according to ITAR-TASS.

Putin also touched upon Kyrgyzstan’s roadmap for entry into the Customs Union. “A similar draft document for Kyrgyzstan is almost ready. Its reconciliation with Kyrgyz colleagues is currently being done,” Putin stressed.

In conclusion, he reiterated that Russia is prepared for further harmonious cooperation with Belarus and Kazakhstan for the implementation of the large-scale Eurasian Economic Project. In his words, the heads of the Customs Union member states have reached an agreement to continue holding at least three sessions of SEEC a year in their capitals cities alternately.

Let us remind you that at the September 3 talks in Moscow, President Putin and President Sargsyan comprehensively discussed the state and prospects of bilateral allied cooperation and foreign-policy cooperation issues. They confirmed the intention of Yerevan and Moscow to continue to develop economic integration processes in the Eurasian space. In a joint statement, Serzh Sargsyan announced Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union and take all the necessary steps with that aim and later also to participate in the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Vladimir Putin supported Armenia’s decision and expressed the Russia side’s willingness to assist with that process.
