Kocharian: Aliev realizes that new adventure will lead to new defeats

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharian answered questions of Armenpress news agency in connection with the latest statement of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

- Mr. Kocharian, please comment on the claims expressed in the January 9 speech of the Azerbaijani president that Armenia is inferior to Azerbaijan in all spheres, which will play a decisive role in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

- It has been no secret for a long time that the main obstacles to the negotiating process are misrepresentation of the essence of the problem, denial of the right to self-determination, anti-Armenian propaganda, and threats to restart war. This was expressed once again in the Azerbaijani president’s latest speech.

He could have voiced more impressive figures by making a comparison with the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. Yet he avoids doing it because he did not forget that despite the figures, as a result of the aggression unleashed by it, Azerbaijan was defeated by Nagorno Karabakh and he realizes that a new adventure will lead to new defeats.
