President expresses concern over Azerbaijani side’s provocations
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort who is on a last visit to Armenia in his capacity as the EU Special Representative, the presidential press service said.
The Armenian president welcomed Philippe Lefort, saying that the important post of the European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus bears evidence of the interest the EU shows in regional security and stability. Serzh Sargsyan thanked Philippe Lefort for his contribution to the deepening of cooperation between Armenia and the EU and for his efforts on promotion of regional security and peace. The president wished P. Lefort success in his further activities.
Speaking about a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group framework, Serzh Sargsyan expressed his deep concern over the Azerbaijani side’s repeated provocations along the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan and the ceasefire violations in recent days, stressing that they are a serious obstacle to further progress in the negotiating process.
