Zakarian: Opposition reduced struggle to level of personal ambitions

Deputy of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) parliamentary faction Artak Zakarian commented on the March 1 rally of Armenian National Congress (HAK) on his Facebook page.

“Unfortunately, the first day of the spring in Armenia’s political life became yet another occasion for the opposition’s power struggle. Our opposition has reduced this struggle to the level of personal ambitions,” Zakarian noted.
Discussing Levon Ter-Petrosian’s speech, the HHK deputy said that it is difficult to determine whether the speech of HAK leader resembled Gagik Tsarukian’s speech or vice versa.

“I think it doesn’t matter, especially given the fact that they have no formulas of scientific-practical or national importance. There were no new formulas of a peaceful resolution to the Karabakh conflict, security in energy and communication sectors, sustainable economic activity, a new social policy, ideological, spiritual, legal, value, scientific-educational and cultural ideas. Yet the world is changing fast, presenting new challenges and dangers, while the political tunes of our respected oppositionists remain the same,” Zakarian wrote.

According to him, thanks to its foreign policy, Armenia has managed not only to ensure its assets and potential, but also to increase them, which helps it gain a reputation of a peaceful, stable, balanced and predictable state with democratic norms and a peculiar political style.

“Levon Ter-Petrosian should know perfectly that all this does not come easy in present-day world. What President Serzh Sargsyan has achieved in the foreign political processes would be quite a sorry sight in case of others. A balanced, clear-cut, pragmatic, efficient and consistent policy should be implemented with this aim. It is a reasonable path of manifesting Armenia’s interests”.
