ICRC mission was to help the Armenian citizen return to his homeland
“Our main mission was to help the Armenian citizen return to his homeland, which was achieved. I cannot make any comments about Khojoyan’s health condition,” the head of the communications programs of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Armenia Office Ms. Zara Amatuni told Aysor.am when asked if the ICRC is authorized to deal with problems of Mamikpon Khojoyan, a 77-year-old man who was tortured during his captivity in Azerbaijan and was freed recently.
Mamikon Khojoyan is currently in Ijevan medical center. He has serious health problems.
The ICRC is concerned over health condition of all the captives, Zara Amatuni said adding that as a rule, they keep in touch with families of captives after they return to the homeland.
“When possible we assist with their social and healthcare problems, but is not our main mission,” she said.
