Armenian parliament deputies head to Syria due to Kesab events

A group of deputies of Armenia’s National Assembly left for Syria in connection with the events in Armenian-populated town of Kesab.

The parliamentary speaker Hovik Abrahamain said the deputies will familiarize themsleves with the situation and submit a report to the parliament.

The delegation is composed of Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) faction deputies Naira Karapetian, Samvel Farmanian, Levon Martirosian and Arman Sahakian, independent deputy Edmon Marukian, and deputy of Heritage faction Tevan Poghosian.

On the morning of March 21 attacks were launched on Kesab from three border positions in Turkey. Part of Kesab population moved to mountains to avoid danger, others were temporarily evacuated to Latakia.
