Demining issues discussed at Defense Ministry
A consultation on the organization of humanitarian demining in four communities (16 areas) of Syunik province in Armenia was held at Armenian Defense Ministry. First Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan and Deputy Defense Minister Ara Nazarian conducted the consultation, according to the press service of the ministry.
The program is implemented by the Halo Trust non-profit organization and the Defense Ministry’s peacekeeping battalion of field engineers as part of the Humanitarian Demining Research and Development Program funded by the U.S. State Department.
Technical studies and demining work are expected to start on April 15. The program will last for over a year.
