Serzh Sargsyan: Major changes will take place in government
“The new government of Armenia should be able to ensure economic growth and continued reforms, restore citizens’ trust in the reforms and its activities. These are the minimum problems to be solved by the new government,” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a meeting with management of the Central Bank of Armenia.
“I think major changes will take place in the government. It is necessary to take a new look at the existing problems and spheres,” he said.
The president said the Armenian prime minister’s resignation was “a resignation and not compulsion”. “During the discussion in our party yesterday I said that the prime minister informed me about his intention to resign on March 3, but we did not do it so as to show that we did not do it under the pressure of some political forces. We just want to tell our partners and the public that such was the situation,” the president noted.
“Six years is a long term for a prime minister. Currently, it is a hard, thankless job. I held that post for a short time, but it was enough to perceive its difficulty. Such is our situation, unfortunately. But I think that in 20 years the implementation of many jobs will become much easier,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
