Armen Ashotyan: Cooperation with EU continues

Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan participated in a forum concerning the implementation of the program of raising awareness of Armenian pupils and students about the European Union and Armenia-EU cooperation and relations, according to the press service of Ministry of Education and Science.

Welcoming the forum participants, Ashotyan said the EU continues to be one of the Armenia’s major partners, assisting with the country’s educational reforms and institutional reforms and the strengthening of the role of Armenia in international education.

“The dissemination of information about the EU in higher and secondary educational institutions will allow our youth to become acquainted with the history and main structural procedures of the EU. Armenia attaches importance to consistent European integration in education. The interest that Armenian pupils and students take in the EU shows that the younger generation is deeply interested in the promotion of cooperation with the EU, especially in the field of European educational programs,” Ashotyan said.

In his words, the goals of the agenda of Armenia’s educational reforms consist of two components: first, the European educational territory is of primary importance to Armenia, and secondly, the efficiency of cooperation will not decline.

“Despite criticism, cooperation with the EU did not stop, quite the opposite it has intensified: this year Armenia received the opportunity of full-fledged participation in two important programs,” the minister said.

He thanked EU representatives for the implementation of educational programs, adding that Armenia is prepared to continue cooperation on educational programs.

The forum participants included the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea, heads of Armenian schools, colleges and universities, and education experts from Armenia and abroad.
