Serzh Sargsyan receives Catholicos-Patriarch Nerses Petros XIX

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics Nerses Petros XIX, the presidential press service said.

Nerses Petros XIX is a member of the State Commission on Coordination of Events Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. He participated in the 4th meeting of the commission in Yerevan on May 27. At the Armenian president’s invitation, he also attended the festivities held at the Sardarapat Memorial on the First Armenian Republic Day on May 28.

Nerses Petros XIX and Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of joint efforts for the benefit of the Armenian people, the unity and cooperation of the state and the Armenian Churches for resolution of the national problems, and measures aimed at preserving the Armenian identity in the Diaspora and strengthening Armenia-Diaspora links.
