CSTO defense ministers discuss mutual support in case of outside threat

The defense ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states discussed in Moscow today the possible measures of mutual support of the member states in case of an increasing outside threat, Russia’s First Deputy Defense Minister General Arkady Bakhin was quoted as saying by RIA-Novosti.

“During discussions we considered the possible measures of mutual support by CSTO member states in case of an increasing outside threat and political and economic pressure,” the general said.

The Armenian delegation led by Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan is also participating in the meeting.

Bakhin said the CSTO defense ministers discussed the current situation in the CSTO responsibility zone and the developments in Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine. Besides, they outlined the directions of further work aimed at developing the military component of the CSTO.
