Serzh Sargsyan receives Russian Railways head Yakunin

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today President of Russian Railways OJSC, Chairman of the Board of Directors of South Caucasus Railway CJSC Vladimir Yakunin, according to the presidential press service. Russian Railways is the concessionaire of the Armenian railway.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the high level of Armenian-Russian relations. They stressed that cooperation in the sphere of transportation is an important component of bilateral strategic allied partnership.

S. Sargsyan and V. Yakunin discussed the current state and development prospects of the Armenian railway and the fulfillment of concession obligations.

Yakunin informed the Armenian president about investments on modernization and technical re-equipment of the Armenian railway.

Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia is ready to continue work on infrastructure improvement and implement mutually beneficial joint projects.
