Serzh Sargsyan receives Russian foreign minister

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov who is on an official visit to Yerevan, the presidential press service reported. S. Sargsyan said the agreements reached at the highest level enriched the bilateral agenda and the implementation of those agreements will give renewed impetus to all the spheres of Armenian-Russian cooperation. The president stressed that Armenia aims to do active and serious work, noting that only this approach is in line with the existing allied and strategic relations.

S. Lavrov informed the Armenian president about the results of his meetings and talks in Yerevan. In particular, he and the Armenian foreign minister discussed the process of Armenia’s integration into the Eurasian Economic Union. Lavrov expressed hope that good new will be received today from Sochi where the consultations are being held with this aim.

The Russian foreign minister said that the Karabakh settlement process was also discussed, adding that Russia is committed to the principles reaffirmed repeatedly by the presidents of the Co-chair states.
