Armenian president offers congratulations on U.S. Independence Day

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited today the residence of the U.S. ambassador to Armenia on the occasion of Independence Day of the USA marked on July 4. The president congratulated U.S. Ambassador John Heffern, the embassy staff and the American people on the holiday, the presidential press service reported.

Serzh Sargsyan also sent a congratulatory address to U.S. President Barack Obama.

“We highly appreciate our friendship with the United States and are glad that thanks to joint efforts, our partnership has been taken to a qualitatively new level. We attach importance to deepening of Armenian-U.S. cooperation in all the spheres, assistance with reforms and democratization in Armenia, and the United States’ participation in the Armenian economy.

Highlighting the importance of the consistent participation of the U.S. as a Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, we expect your further active mediatory involvement in the name of a lasting and stable peace in the South Caucasus,” the Armenian president’s address reads.
