Prime ministers of Armenia and Russia discuss wide range of issues
During his working visit to Russia, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan met with Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Sochi, the press office of the Armenian government said.
Prime Minister Medvedev welcomed Hovik Abrahamyan, saying: “We agreed that you will come to Russia in the capacity of Armenian prime minister and it will allow us to discuss a wide range of Russian-Armenian relations, from integration processes to bilateral ties, trade relations, investments and humanitarian cooperation. Needless to say, our countries are very close allies. Indeed, our countries and peoples are very close, which gives us the opportunity to exchange information about all issues of our cooperation. I welcome you to Sochi”.
“I am very glad to meet you. Thank you for the invitation and the opportunity to exchange opinions about urgent issues of our cooperation. We will efficiently discuss issues of interest to us during a separate conversation,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.
The interlocutors appreciated the current level of Armenian-Russian relations, underlining the importance of their further development and expansion.
At the meeting Hovik Abrahamyan and Dmitry Medvedev discussed a number of urgent issues related to bilateral cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres, including joint programs in energy, industry, and infrastructure. The programs will greatly contribute to the development of Armenian economy, H. Abrahamyan said.
The heads of government expressed satisfaction with growing volumes of bilateral trade, noting that Armenia’s entry into the Eurasian Economic Union will give renewed impetus to it.
The sides expressed confidence that the agreement on Armenia’s entry into the Eurasian Economic Union will be signed in the near future.
H. Abrahamyan and D. Medvedev discussed issues related to work on the modernization and extension of the service life of the operating power unit of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant and raising its safety, investment programs of Rosneft Company in Armenia, interregional cooperation, and cooperation in migration, healthcare and humanitarian spheres, etc.
Following the meeting, the delegations of the two countries led by H. Abrahamyan and D. Medvedev discussed a range of issues of mutual interest at a working dinner.
