Government increases remuneration to Armenian servicemen
The Armenian government made amendments and additions to an earlier decision, following the amendments (in effect since January 1, 2014) to the Law on Servicemen and Social Security of their Family Members and the Law on State Pensions. In particular, the decision states that remuneration paid instead of a second pension to families of some killed (deceased) servicemen as well as to disabled servicemen shall increase by 1,000-5,000 drams since May 1, 2014.
Summarizing the measures taken under the decision, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said: “In fact there are some categories of military pensions, which were not raised on July 1, 2014, and by taking this decision we raise by 10-50% remuneration given to 12,300 disabled servicemen. The amount of remuneration paid to 1,250 family members of killed servicemen increases by 20%. About 6,500 family members of killed servicemen get the opportunity to raise their social protection level by choosing the option of receiving remuneration raised by about 50% - instead of a second pension”.
