Barbarism has no limits: Armenian MFA on death of captive Karen Petrosyan

“Not the first time, but captured Armenian villager’s dead in Azerbaijan. Barbarism has no limits! Targeted condemnation & criticism is a must,” Head of Armenian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Press, Information and Public Relations Karen Mkrtchyan wrote on Twitter.

Karen Petrosyan, a 31-year-old resident of Chinari village in Armenia’s Tavush province who crossed into Azerbaijani territory yesterday and was taken captive, has died, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement today. According to the ministry, Karen Petrosyan allegedly “died of heart failure” in Baku.

Resident of Chinari village Karen Petrosyan was taken captive on August 7. He went to a nearby forest to gather wood. In all likelihood K. Petrosyan lost his way and crossed into Azerbaijani territory, which is also confirmed by initial reports of the Azerbaijani media.
