PACE president plans to visit Armenia – Armenpress
Meetings of the delegations of Armenia and Azerbaijan within the PACE framework are crucial to a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Anne Brasseur told reporters at the opening of the PACE autumn session.
The PACE president was quoted by Armenpress news agency as saying that during her visit to Azerbaijan she proposed that delegations of the two countries should meet in her office, but the proposal was rejected.
Anne Brasseur refuted earlier media reports that she allegedly proposed organizing meetings with various Azerbaijani communities. In her words, her major goal is to arrange a meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations – something that the previous PACE president managed to do.
The PACE president said she plans to visit Armenia in the near future as she considers it important to meet and hold discussions with all the parties to the conflict. Negotiations are already underway with the delegation and the embassy, but the date for the visit has not yet been set.
