Armenian president: We should become information society
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today the students and pupils who received the 2014 Presidential Awards in the IT sector, according to the presidential press service.
At the ceremony held in the presidential residence, S. Sargsyan presented awards to 26 students from 5 universities and 16 pupils from 8 senior schools. CEO of Synopsis Armenia Company Dr. Chi-Foon Chan also received an award for his significant contribution to the development of IT sector in Armenia and on the 10th anniversary of Synopsis Armenia’s foundation.
“We give priority to the IT industry – this sector is not only our future, but also our present,” the president stated, congratulating the recipients and wishing them success.
“Whether we like it or not, we should become information society,” Serzh Sargsyan said. He stressed that the sooner an information society is established in Armenia the better.
“It is a call of the times, regardless of who is in power,” the president said adding that the persons who received awards today are in demand in all states, large and small, especially in Armenia.
He once again highlighted the importance of education and science for Armenia’s development.
