R. Hakobyan: Authorities try to gain time by using small tricks
A regular meeting of the trio of non-pro-government political forces took place in the Armenian parliament, this time in the office of Heritage Party’s faction.
Following the trio’s working discussion, the head of Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan said during a briefing in the National Assembly that they discussed issues of making amendments and additions to the law on taxes in border rural communities.
Hakobyan said that by using small tricks, the authorities are trying to gain time and fill the agenda with laws so as to prevent the opposition from discussing urgently debate-worthy issues.
“Each of these laws should be separately seriously debated. The National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure are violated once again. The authorities are making an attempt to prevent the opposition from convening a special sitting and making amendments to laws,” the faction head said.
In his words, there are more important and urgent issues to be debated, but they were not included in the agenda. “Everyone familiar with the legislative culture will realize that what is being done is beyond the scope of the NA Rules of Procedure and the parliamentary culture,” Hakobyan noted.
When asked if details of the trio’s upcoming rally on October 24 were discussed, Hakobyan said that no issue related to the rally was discussed today.
