Sharmazanov: Anxiety over power change is tempest in a teacup
October in Armenia was full of both domestic and foreign political events, the vice speaker of the Armenian parliament Edward Sharmazanov said in the National Assembly today.
He reminded those present that the agreement on Armenia’s entry into the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) was signed in Minsk on October 10, which he said opens new opportunities for Armenia’s economic development.
“In addition, it opens new prospects for foreign investors who can enter the common market of EEU via Armenia’s economic space under a simplified procedure. It is noteworthy that Armenia is also ready to continue dialog with the European Union states in all the possible directions,” the vice speaker said.
Speaking about important events in October, Sharmazanov also indicated the publication of the concept of constitutional reforms developed by the Special Commission on Constitutional Reforms as well as Venice Commission’s conclusion.
Commenting on the opposition’s statements about the necessity of changing power in the country, Sharmazanov said that elections of community heads were held in 13 communities of Armenia on October 19 and the overwhelming majority of population supported candidates of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK).
“Thus, the anxiety over a change of power is a tempest in a teacup,” E. Sharmazanov said in conclusion.
