Relatives of Avetisyan family expect prosecutor’s answer in two days
Relatives of the Avetisyan family murdered in Gyumri on January 12, 2015, gave two days to Armenian Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan, saying that they will resort to radical steps and stage a protest unless an answer about the investigation into the criminal case is provided by Wednesday, February 25.
“We did not receive any precise answer over 42 days,” said the sisters of Hasmik Avetisyan, a killed member of the family.
When asked whether they filed an application to the prosecutor general, the relatives replied that there was no such need as they expressed their demand through the mass media.
The relatives of the Avetisyans went today to the prosecutor’s office of Shirak province. They demanded a meeting with Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan.
The relatives want the prosecutor general to answer all their questions. They refused to leave the office of regional prosecutor Raffi Aslanyan until Gevorg Kostanyan arrives there.
R. Aslanyan advised them to send a written application to Armenian prosecutor general.
Six member of the Avetisyan family, including a two-year-old girl, were killed in Gyumri on January 12. The only survivor, a 6-month-old boy, was hospitalized in critical condition with stab wounds, but he died on January 19 despite all efforts to save him. Russian soldier Valery Permyakov is suspected of the crime.
On the night of January 13, Russian frontier guards detained the main suspect, conscript of the Russian 102nd military base Valery Permyakov, during an attempt to cross the Armenian-Turkish border. He confessed to the killings and was taken into custody. Armenia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Permyakov under Article 104 part 2 point 1 of the Criminal Code – murder of two or more people.
