Selective attitude displayed toward mass media: YPC chairman refers to cases with Aysor.am and News.am
Investigative bodies should not ignore the freedom of speech and mass media, Chairman of Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan told the reporters on Tuesday, referring to the cases with Aysor.am and News.am as well as a bit different case with YerevanToday.
“They want to make mass media and reporters as their helpers when they have an issue to solve. We have witnessed a number of circumstances impeding the activity of mass media and we urged our partner organizations to be sensitive toward mass media but unfortunately we did not get equivalent response and the worrying processes continue,” he said.
Navasardyan described such attitude toward media rather worrying and unacceptable. He stressed that the authorities should clearly warn the law enforcers not to behave in such way.
The law enforcers think they can display selective attitude toward mass media which currently acts in the opposition field.
“We see a selective approach toward mass media. I do not see a political motivation here, but there is an obvious selective attitude. Currently there are not so many precedents but they should be prevented not to face issues in future,” he said.
