Health sector official urges people to get vaccinated and stay at home if sick
This year A type of H1N1 is circulating, general director of Health Ministry’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention Artavazd Vanyan told the reporters today.
He said that it is not the case when there was no virus in Armenia and it is necessary to close the borders for it not to penetrate into the country.
“As of now 1,251 people have applied to policlinics, 693 people are getting inpatient treatment, 103 ambulance calls have been registered,” he said.
Vanyan said the number of people with the mentioned virus has grown.
“Some 432 children in Armenia were not allowed to visit schools and kinder-gartens,” Vanyan said.
“Majority thinks that flu is not a disease and go to work which causes spread of the virus. There are vulnerable groups with chronic diseases which means that it may cause death. That is why we urge people with chronic diseases to be vaccinated,” Vanyan said.
He said if vaccinated, people will avoid complications.
Vanyan also urged the employers not to allow employees with flu come to work as they will spread virus on the others too.
Vanyan said only one lethal case has been registered this year. A case with the death of child in Arabkir medical center is not agreed with the flu.
