Emergency Situations Ministry needs to be expanded not closed: minister
Armenia’s Emergency Situation Ministry must not be closed but on the contrary it should have an opportunity for expansion, Emergency Situations Minister Felix Tsolakyan said speaking to Aysor.am, adding that those speaking about the necessity to close the ministry have no idea about the work it carries out.
The comment comes after the media publication that the Emergency Situations Ministry is not being closed for Tsolakyan’s sake.
The minister said that he does not agree with the claim and his personality has any relation to it.
“It does not matter who the minister is, the Emergency Situations Ministry should not be closed as today its functions are more than necessary,” the minister said, adding that in 2018 as compared with the 2017 the number of emergency situations in Armenia increased by 1,063. “It is more serious than the others imagine,” Tsolakyan said.
As to the observation that the Emergency Situations Ministry was acting quite successfully under subordination of the Territorial Administration Ministry, Tsolakyan said, “Who says it was working well?”
