CSTO adapted to idea of not having secretary general by 2020 due to Armenia’s position: Kommersant
The CSTO may stay without full secretary general for the running year, with the appointment of representative of Belarus Stanislav Zas being postponed due to uncompromising position of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to Russian Kommersant, the CSTO has adapted to the idea that the organization will stay without the secretary general for a year due to Armenia’s position.
Representative of Russia Valery Semerikov will continue implementing the authorities of the secretary general.
“The CSTO will be headed by acting secretary general until 2020,” the paper writes citing source in the Russian MFA.
Another source close to the CSTO told the paper that the appointment is expected next year. “There is no collapse and psychological instability in the organization, it works in accordance with its agenda,” the paper cited the source as saying.
