Khorenatsi 13 building roughly destructed, nothing can be done: chairman of Union of Architects
Khorenatsi 13 building should not have necessarily been in the list of the buildings with valuable fronts for it not to be touched, chairman of the Union of Armenian Architects Mkrtich Minasyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
“Many things were withdrawn from the list and this is the case when the building may not be in the list but proper attention be paid to it. Just one facade remained and it could have been included in the newly built building,” Minasyan said.
The building was demounted in 2004 with only front being preserved, which according to municipality was not included in the list of buildings having valuable fronts.
The municipality also explained that after privatization of the building the owner has not intended preservation of the front.
“I have heard that the investor did not want to do it, considering that it may cost higher. This is the reason why we are getting deprived of our values,” Minasyan said.
The chairman of the union said that no discussion has been conducted with the architects over the Khorenatsi 13 building.
“We cannot do anything now, what can we do when facade was destroyed in two days. They could have discussed, explained its necessity, they did not do it, they just roughly ruined it,” he said.
The chairman of the union said that the investors, besides aiming at having income, must have certain attitude toward the city and in case of necessity the municipality must demand it from them.
“The investors both from inside and outside do not consider city’s interests at all,” Minasyan said.
