Fruitful, favorable agricultural year expected: Hrach Berberyan

Fruitful year is expected if to stem from the statement of Emergency Situations Minister Felix Tsolakyan who stated today that with 99% probability no frostbite is expected, chairman of Agrarian-Rural Union NGO Hrach Berberyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.

“The agricultural year started very smoothly. Our experience has shown that it must be favorable. The only danger we wee is the possible frostbite in late April. The rest is fine. Of course, I cannot tell anything regarding the hail,” Berberyan said, adding that the Emergency Situations Ministry does not have today the anti-hail services to fight against it.

He stressed that the anti-hail service does not justify itself and the spring precipitations may really harm the agriculture.

“We failed to use the rocket system which though we must do sooner or later of course by applying net system,” Berberyan said, adding that Felix Tsolakyan can do nothing, as the necessary devices have been imported to Armenia by scarves who were busy with money laundering.

"These devices have never done any good,” the interlocutor said.

Berberyan reminded that the hail bringing clouds penetrate to Armenia mainly from Mediterranean Sea with Aragatsotn, Armavir, Shirak regions and Baghramyan being at main risk which means the apricot trees, the peace, grape and vegetables are endangered. He said the most secure in this regard is Ararat region.

As to the hail in Gegharkunik region, Berberyan said that it may be considered “local” harming mainly the potato.

Earlier today Emergency Situations Minister Felix Tsolakyan stated that the frostbite is not expected in Armenia’s valleys and foothills by 99% and that as compared with 2018 this year is more favorable.
