Residents of Gndevaz still hope that Amulsar works will be resumed again
Due to the illegal blockade of roads taking to Amulsar, the majority of residents of Gndevaz and nearby communities remained without jobs.
For over the year the road taking to Amulsar is periodically being closed resulting in job cuts and emigration.
Speaking to Aysor.am, one of the residents of Gndevaz community Armen Torosyan said that he is very dissatisfied of the closed road, saying that it creates inconviniences.
“I am very displeased that the road is closed, it has created a number of inconveniences. Me and my son were working in Amulsar, now we are not working for almost a year,” Torosyan stressed.
He said just 25-30 people from Gndevaz have closed the road the rest are not from the community.
“They are not from our community, I do not know why they are speaking on our behalf,” he stressed.
He said over 100 people from the community were working in Amulsar mine.
“I am very pleased with Lydian Armenia, people have come here to implement a project. As a result of working with them I have managed to acquire a greenhouse. And not only me. They have donated 18 greenhouses to the residents. They have replaced the windows of the local school, they have reconstructed the kindergarten, they have installed a playing ground for children, they have built a hotel, helped people to pass medical treatment. I am not aware of everything, but all the mentioned I have seen with my own eyes,” Torosyan said.
Torosyan said he does not lose hope that a day will come and the mine will be exploited again ensuring jobs for the residents of the community.
Another resident of Gndevaz Ararat Hakobyan said that people remained jobless as a result of the situation over Amulsar.
“People do not work, they are idle, it is already a problem,” he said, adding that he was a dance teacher of children but remained without job as the dance groups were financed by Lydian Armenia.
“We have complained over it, but useless, the community is divided into two parts, the one says that the works should not continue, the other wants the mine to be exploited,” Hakobyan said.
Hakobyan, like Torosyan said he does not lose hope that one day the works will resume.
“We really hope that the government will come to conclusion that the mine can be exploited and many families will again have jobs,” Ararat Hakobyan said.
