Lydian Armenia ready to implement proposals fixed in expert conclusion
Chairman of the Investigative Committee Hayk Grigoryan briefed at the cabinet sitting today on results of expert conclusion on Amulsar exploitation.
Grigoryan said that Amulsar underground waters and Jermuk thermal springs do not have any connection.
“There is no connection between Amulsar underground waters and Sevan Lake as well,” Grigoryan said.
The official also said that the conclusion says about impact of Amulsar exploitation on Darb, Arpa, Vorotan rivers.
According to the conclusion, the risks will be controllable if Lydian undertakes the 16 steps mentioned in the document.
“Yesterday Lydian has got familiarized with the conclusion. During the preliminary investigation the company experts were involved and worked with expert group. Lydian company is ready to implement the 15 events mentioned in the document. Ten of them are already being carried out. Discussions are being held over one measure,” Grigoryan said.
He said to get sum from World Bank Lydian must make its activity correspond to IFC criteria which envisages applying smoothing measures after 100 years of exploitation of the mine while the expert group proposed using Nevada criteria – till 500 years.
Grigoryan said that there are no grounds to start criminal proceedings against the company.
