Armenia’s Prosecutor’s General Office refrains from commenting on CC’s ruling over Kocharyan’s case
Armenia’s Prosecutor’s General Office does not comment yet on the Constitutional Court’s ruling over ex-president Robert Kocharyan’s case.
Press service of the office told Aysor.am that they cannot express any position as of the moment but did not exclude the possibility of issuing corresponding statement later during the day.
At a news conference on Saturday, defense team members of Kocharyan stated that the CC’s ruling must follow the immediate release of Armenia’s second president from custody and suspension of criminal persecution against him.
“There are legal positions in the CC ruling which clearly say that as of now Kocharyan has been kept in custody and criminally persecuted illegally,” Hayk Alumyan said.
On the same day the advocates submitted petition to the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction demanding immediate release of Kocharyan from custody and suspension of the case.
Today Kocharyan’s supporters gathered in front of a court demanding release of ex-president.
