Cruelty against animals hence to be punished by law

The legislative initiative of the Prosperous Armenia faction lawmakers Naira Zohrabyan and others on criminalizing the violence against animals has been adopted by the parliament today with 74 lawmakers having voted in favor, 11 against and 17 restrained.

The lawmakers propose amendments in the Criminal legislation by adding an article “Cruel attitude toward animals” that will envisage punishment for cruel attitude toward animals.

The punishment starts with fine and ends with imprisonment for maximum 1 year.

The same deed committed with initial agreement with a group of people and with peculiar cruelty envisages punishment from 1-3 years in prison.
